Abstract: | Organized between August 26-27, 1964, in Timiș, the Sino-Romanian talks represented a major step in the direction of achieving a rapprochement between Beijing and Bucharest. The Romanian authorities, taking advantage of the 20th anniversary of the „liberation of the homeland”, will hold secret talks with Li Xiannian, a member of the CCP CC. During the talks between the two sides, both the RWP leaders and Li Xiannian will resort to an analysis of the differences with the Kremlin, thus creating the premises for a Sino-Romanian rapprochement. Based on documents from the Romanian archives, this article analyzes the main topics of discussion between the two parties. |
